# Assistant

> Ask station questions and review proposed changes before applying them.

Open **Assistant** from the workspace, or press **⌘ J** on Mac or **Ctrl J** on Windows and Linux. The station must have AI enabled and valid provider configuration.

## Ask a useful question

Name the broadcast or record and the result you need. For example, in the fictional RIVI FM workspace:

> What preparation tasks are still open for the next Breakfast on RIVI?

> Propose a task to confirm Maya's interview time for that broadcast.

The assistant can read authorized station summaries, upcoming schedules, content and media searches, and preparation summaries. It does not receive other people's private scripts or drafts merely because you can administer the station.

## Review a proposal

The assistant can propose changes such as creating or renaming a program, creating a content draft, updating draft fields, adding or assigning preparation tasks, and inserting rundown items.

1. Read the proposal's target, current and proposed values, and warnings.
2. Use **Edit** where available if it needs adjustment.
3. Choose **Approve & apply** only when the change is correct.
4. Check the result in the target record or broadcast.

Writing "yes" in the conversation does not approve a proposal. Proposals expire after 15 minutes, and execution runs as you with your current permissions. The assistant cannot publish, approve or schedule content, delete records, change roles, issue credentials, or take live control.

## Data and activity

Sending a message sends the message, recent context, and permitted read-tool results to the configured external AI provider. Read the disclosure and your station's policy before including confidential material.

Thread activity includes redacted summaries. Personal messages and threads are excluded from owner station exports.

## If a request fails

An unavailable provider may prevent new responses while an existing proposal can still be approved. If the outcome of an applied proposal is uncertain, inspect the target before requesting or approving another copy. Ask for a new proposal after expiry or a revision conflict.

See [AI settings](/radiotools/station-admin/ai-settings) for configuration and disablement.
