# Live presentation

> Use live scripts, presenter control, and broadcast history.

The live workspace brings the rundown, scripts, and presenter actions together during a broadcast. Audio playout continues in your station's external automation system.

## Before you start

Open the broadcast in Show Prep. Check the team, scripts, timing, media, and readiness list. An authorized presenter can start live after reviewing outstanding work and recording a reason where required.

The station's live status refers to the RadioTools broadcast workspace. Publishing a CMS record and starting a live broadcast are separate actions.

## Presenter control

One connection holds presenter control at a time. Review the current item before advancing or changing live state. Another authorized presenter must confirm takeover before gaining control.

If an action is rejected because the room changed, inspect the current rundown and try the intended action again. Avoid repeating commands without checking which change was already applied.

## Scripts while live

Authorized colleagues can edit scripts while connected. **Saved** means the server acknowledged the text; presence shows who is online. Keep an eye on both connection and save status.

The active item cannot be deleted while active. Returning to preparation exposes tasks, research, metadata, and readiness checks without changing which connection has presenter control.

## Follow external automation

If an administrator enables automation following, an authorized presenter can let matching reported music observations advance the rundown. Uncertain matches are shown without advancing it. Turning off the station setting prevents observations from moving the rundown.

Reported tracks describe incoming metadata; they do not play, pause, or stop audio. See [Integrations](/radiotools/station-admin/integrations) for the ingest connection.

## Recover from a disconnection

Editing and live controls pause while the socket is disconnected. Reconnection loads a current authorized snapshot before work continues. Script operations can retry with the same identity, but live control commands do not replay automatically.

Use **Copy script text** if available when disconnected or access is revoked. After reconnecting, verify the active item and control holder before issuing another action.

## After the broadcast

Open **As-run history** to compare planned and observed timing, review skipped items, and download CSV. If no playback data arrived, the history identifies that limitation and reflects manual progression. Treat it as a record of the available observations.
